DIGITAL MEDIA INSTRUCTOR - DeSoto & Palmetto Club

Primary Function :
The Digital Media Youth Development Professional is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating engaging digital media programs that inspire creativity, build skills, and support positive youth development at assigned Club sites. This role combines technical expertise with mentorship, guiding youth through hands-on experiences in video, audio, graphic design, and emerging technologies while modeling professionalism, teamwork, and creative problem-solving.
Primary Responsibilities (not all-inclusive)
Program Delivery
Create and implement lesson plans that engage youth in digital media projects (video production, graphic design, animation, photography, 3D modeling, digital painting).
Facilitate hands-on instruction using industry-standard software and equipment.
Manage classroom dynamics to ensure a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment.
Prepare members for showcases, exhibitions, or competitions.
Youth Development
Build strong relationships with members, providing mentorship and guidance.
Support social, emotional, and leadership development through creative projects.
Encourage consistent participation, teamwork, and positive self-expression.
Serve as a role model for professionalism, creativity, and collaboration.
Technical & Lab Management
Oversee use and care of program equipment (computers, cameras, editing tools, lighting, etc.).
Teach practical skills in Adobe Creative Suite, video editing software, and related platforms.
Develop engaging projects that integrate design, film, photography, and digital storytelling.
Maintain program area standards: daily setup, cleaning, and safe storage of materials.
Required Skills & Experience
Strong knowledge of digital media production tools (Adobe Creative Suite, video editing software, photography equipment).
Prior experience teaching or mentoring youth/teens, with curriculum design preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and inspire young people.
Organizational ability to balance multiple projects and maintain accurate records.
A passion for empowering youth through creativity, technology, and learning.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two Years accredited College/University preferred and/or High School diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of working experience with Logic Pro.
- Prior teaching experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of music theory and production techniques.
- Basic experience with Final Cut Pro, iMovie, or other video editing software.
- Working knowledge of Slate Digital products (Raven, Virtual Microphone System, etc.).
- Studio and/or live production experience with mixing consoles, microphones & digital audio workstations.
- Experience with a variety of audio production types: studio recording/mixing (multiple genres), live music, podcasting & spoken word.
- Strong discipline and focus with leading small groups.
- Demonstrated ability to organize, direct, plan and coordinate operations.

- Must be comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
